I went on a two-month hiatus. Because I suuuuuuck. // Life updates and other pointless shite

Okay, what the hell is this post? I have no idea. I took a very long and unannounced blogging hiatus due to my big move, and I’m currently waiting for life to ease back onto track. I wish the movers would hurry the bonkers up so I could at least set up my apartment, but alas, I am stuck in a limbo situation where I don’t have the comforts nor mentality to blog, so I feel displaced from my reality at the moment.

However, the lack of any new posts on my blog page is starting to look pathetic to me, so I’ve decided to spontaneously blitz through a throwaway post in which I ramble about my meager reading updates. This is honestly a weird post since I give no shits writing it, so feel free to ignore me: there’s no point to this post, I just want to say I’m not dead.

So hi. I’m not dead.

What I read this past month:

Bring Me Their Hearts (~3.5 stars)

Not gonna lie, I fell into a massive reading slump during the last two months or so during my move. However, this book is pretty durn fun, and it helped shake the fog out of my brain, just a bit. I mean, the protagonist is a snarky zombie who just wants to chow down her prince’s heart, so that’s already a better love story than Twilight, right?

The Amulet of Samarkand (~5 stars)

What are you doing with your life if you haven’t read the Bartimaeus trilogy yet? People who know me know that this is my favorite series ever besides Harry Potter, and this re-read massively helped shake off the last vestiges of my reading slump.

Like, I was giggling so much reading it that I fell off the treadmill at one point.

What I’m reading now:

The Shadows of Self  (~4.5 stars)

Man, Sanderson’s prose really snapped up in the second era of the Mistborn trilogy. I literally couldn’t stand his prose during the first era, so this series is much more enjoyable now that his sentences have a clear structure: it’s allowing me to focus on the characters better, so I have a feeling that this book is going to impress me heaps. 🙂

Foundryside (currently ~5 stars)

I’m currently on page 70 of this, and I’m having a blast! There’s a talking key that is the cuuutest character I’ve read in a while, and the world-building is cool. This book makes me curious to see how it will end, so wish me good luck!

Lastly, what am I going to read next?

……..derrrrrp. Don’t know, don’t care.

***So that’s the post! I’m positive that I’ve been completely forgotten in the two months that I’ve been away, but hey ho, that’s life. I do miss you people in the blogosphere a lot, so apologies that I haven’t been popping in to say hi. I don’t know when I’ll fall back into schedule again, but it really depends on when the movers get here.

They are two weeks late, and ME NO HAPPY.

  1. Welcome back! 🙂 You’re certainly not forgotten, just take your time and come back when you can and when it feels right! 🙂 Btw, I’ve never seen that gif before, I’m literally crying now. xD

  2. YOU’RE NOT DEAD. excuse why would you be forgotten? Also maybe I need a blogging hiatus because you leave for two months and come back with several four star and higher reads. How. Please get back to blogging soon and share your wisdom as us poor fools (okay me) wade through three stars. Best of luck as settling in continues!

    1. Haha you’re a sweetheart! You know, I actually did go on a hiatus partially to get my reading up to speed – and it helped! We all need a break sometime, so maybe that’ll be the cure for you too. 😉 Thanks for your lovely words Sha, and I can’t wait to get back to reading your blog!

  3. Oh it’s so nice to see you back! Missed your posts 🙂 And it was also fun reading this. I loved Foundryside, just read it. And adding the Amulet of something to my TBR. It’s just too hard to write it :))))

  4. Very VERY happy to hear you’re not dead! I also haven’t been around for the last couple months, but this doesn’t mean either of us suuuucckk! (We’re awesome – sucking is not an option!) I’ve just read this very timely post from Little Red Reviewer https://littleredreviewer.wordpress.com/2018/10/23/dear-book-bloggers-im-worried-about-you/ which made me feel a heap better about having missed so much – maybe it’ll speak to you too?
Great to see you back here. All the good vibes being sent your way. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I remember wondering where you were even before my hiatus, so hopefully I’ll see you around soon? Best wishes that your life becomes less hectic! ❤

  6. Congratulations to your new place. Hope the move went well and things are slowly settling in. It always takes time, I totally get it.

I’ve been taking a regular time off blogging and it’s absolutely ok. It’s for us to enjoy, not to add extra stress.

And PS. I sure am glad you are well, it’s not a pointless post by any means! 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you so much Vera! Yes, giving zero effs about writing a perfect review or maintaining my stats is doing me wonders. Not that I ever let those things bother me before, but still, the stress does creep up subtly on you. 😉 I hope you are doing well yourself! ❤
